Backpackers love coming to Coolum to experience the tranquillity and peacefulness that this holiday destination on the Sunshine Coast boasts. And with it being so close to all that the Sunny Coast has to offer you can have all that you need for a fun filled time right at your doorstep but still come home to serenity and quiet.

Coolum is approximately one hour’ s drive from Brisbane and with flights, buses and trains arriving daily on the Sunshine Coast you can easily reach your desired destination without any hassle at all. While staying in Coolum you may like to check out the excellent surfing conditions that run up and down the coastline or explore Coolum’s peaceful coves and rock pools or take an afternoon walk along Coolum’s wide stretch of sandy golden beach. Coolum Beach offers great fishing either from the sand or off the rocks, and you can even try your hand at reef fishing from the nearby reef located off Point Cartwright Headland.

Coolum is about 20 minutes from the popular destination of Noosa where you can enjoy plenty of shopping on Hasting Street, swimming at patrolled beaches, wandering through pristine National Parklands as well as dining, surfing and plenty of other water sports. In the other direction you will find accommodation in Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Caloundra which are also reachable be different means of transportation where you can easily fill in a day exploring the region and discovering the many sights and delights that are on offer.

From Underwater World, Australia Zoo, Aussie World, Ettamogah Pub and the Eumundi Markets are just some of the attractions that you can visit anytime of the week. And for the keen golfer there are many challenging courses to keep you occupied, from nearby Twin Waters, through to Noosa Springs, and of course, the world-famous Hyatt Regency golf course. So whether you are looking for a quiet round for just yourself or with some friends you can have a great game on any of these nearby courses.

Coolum is home to some pretty amazing scenery, whether you are wandering along the foreshore, through the lush National Parks or maybe even trekking up beautiful Mount Coolum, there are plenty of things for the nature lover to do. And if you wish to explore further you may like to check out neighbouring Maleny and Montville in the Blackall Ranges where pristine rainforests and lush tropical vegetation run rife. Here you can swim in rock pools, lunge off cascading waterfalls and enjoy a peaceful picnic in one of the many picnic grounds.

There are also activities for the thrill seeker such as swimming with the sharks, sky diving, wind surfing, parasailing, hang gliding, horse riding, mountain biking and rock climbing. And not to leave out whale watching, fishing charters, scuba diving cruises, sunset cruises and more.

So as you can see there are plenty of things to see and do for all backpackers that come to Coolum, no matter what time of year it is! The sun will always be shinning and an array of attractions just waiting for you to experience.
